HLTAID009 - (HLTAID001) Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation


This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines.
This unit applies to all workers who may be required to provide CPR, in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.

Specific licensing /regulatory requirements relating to this competency, including requirements for refresher training should be obtained from the relevant national/state/territory Work Health and Safety Regulatory Authorities

The duration for this course is 4 hours.

Delivery Mode

Workplace based – includes pre-course reading, pre-course knowledge questions and self-assessment, scheduled face to face practical training (morning session) and combined knowledge and skills assessment (afternoon session) referred to as final assessment. Schedules (student program guides) will be provided prior to commencement of training and assessment.

This unit of qualification have assessment tasks.  Competency will vary however the following methods can be used but ​are not limited to the below:

  • observation
  • reports
