CPP40719 Certificate IV in Security Management


This qualification is for security supervisors and security business managers who may engage in sub-contracting arrangements for personnel and clients. Security supervisors lead teams to coordinate and implement a range of security operations and functions such as control room, monitoring centre, electronic security and guarding. Security business managers coordinate security manpower and services to clients while operating under complex regulatory and contracting arrangements.
Occupational titles may include:

  • control room manager
  • event security supervisor
  • monitoring centre manager
  • security business manager
  • security operations supervisor
  • technical security manager.

Legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply in some states and territories to the provision of advice on security solutions, strategies, protocols and procedures. For further information, check with the relevant regulatory authority.

To achieve this qualification, competency must be demonstrated in:

  • 12 units of competency
  • 4 core units
  • 8 elective units

Course Duration is 12 months. You are expected to attended over 80% of the classroom sessions and complete a series of assessments. 

Delivery Mode

Our course includes face to face, classroom attendance, and includes case studies, project work, questions and answers, and an online component. For corporate clients classroom sessions can be at your workplace with prior agreement. 

Entry into this course

There are no entry requirements for this qualification, however it is highly recommended that participants ideally will have a Certificate III in Security Operations or are currently working in the industry. No prerequisites are required for this course.
Students are required to undertake a Language, Literacy, and Numeracy test prior to commencing the training. 

To successfully complete this course, students must have:

  • basic English writing, reading and speaking skills basic level of mathematics equivalent to a school sector Year 11 standard 
  • basic computer skills as a minimum 
  • access to a computer 

How will I be assessed ​for this course?

Assessments are completed to measure your skills and knowledge against the training qualification requirements and those of the industry. 

The assessment process will include written and practical presentations, case studies, workbook activities, observation, project work and classroom participation and will require some time away from the training rooms completing assignments. 

RPL/Credit transfer

RPL and credit transfer applies for this course.

Recognition of prior learning (RPL)

If recognition applies the students overall duration will alter and a schedule of exemptions will be provided.

Credit transfer

If a certificate or statement of results is produced and verified, a credit transfer process will be initiated by Tradee Training Academy Australia in relation to the units as per the training plan.
