CPP20218 Certificate II in ​Security Operations

OVERVIEW

The Licensing and Regulation Division (LRD) of Victoria Police regulates the Private Security Industry in Victoria.
The Private Security Industry is regulated by the Private Security Act 2004 and operationalised through the Regulations.

The Act lays out the framework for a licensing and registration regime for the Private Security Industry in Victoria.
To work in the Private Security Industry, Individuals must be appropriately licensed with either a Private Security Licence
or a Private Security Registration. Whether Individuals need a Licence or registration depends on what type of work they
will be undertaking in the Security Industry.
Individuals will need a Private Security Licence if they want to perform Class A activities.
Class A Private Security activities are:

  • Investigator
  • Bodyguard
  • Crowd controller
  • Security Guard (including sub-activities)
  • Private security trainer

Individuals must be the holder of a Private Security Individual Licence to perform Class A activities. Individuals must
be the holder of a Private Security Business Licence to provide the services of others who hold individual licenses to
perform Class A activities.
The activity of Security Guard comprises of six sub-activities. These activities are:

  • Unarmed guard
  • Armed guard
  • Cash in transit
  • Control room operator
  • Monitoring room operator
  • Guard with a dog

An Individuals Licence must be endorsed with each sub-activity that they will perform. To have the Licence endorsed with a Security Guard sub-activity
Individuals must provide evidence of having completed all relevant training courses.
When applying for a Victorian Private Security Individual Licence, Individuals will be required to provide evidence of having completed the competencies
​relevant to the activity they are applying for.

​Only training that has been completed at an approved Registered Training Organisation will be accepted for licensing purposes.

CPPSEC2110 Monitor and control individual and crowd behaviour to maintain security
CPPSEC2111 Apply security procedures to manage intoxicated persons
CPPSEC2112 Apply security procedures to remove persons from premises

To achieve recognition at the Certificate II level, the candidate must demonstrate competency in the fourteen units.

Duration

Course Duration is 18 Days. You are expected to attended all 18 days of the classroom sessions and complete a series of assessments.

Entry into this course

There are no formal entry requirements for persons seeking enrolment into this qualification.

  • The CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations qualification is the minimum level for a Security Worker to be operational or “on the job” as required by the Licensing and Regulation Division (LRD) who are the regulators of Security licenses in Victoria.
  • LRD’s RTO Conditions (Condition 12) reflects that: A pre-training Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) assessment is conducted for each Student either at enrolment or prior to the delivery of training, including RPL candidates.
  • Students seeking enrolment into this qualification must have an appropriate level of written and spoken English suitable for employment within the Private Security Industry.
  • These levels of written and spoken English are assessed by way of a Pre-Training Review process conducted during the enrolment process.

Delivery Mode

Our course includes face to face, classroom attendance, and includes case studies, project work, questions and answers, and an online component. For corporate clients classroom sessions can be at your workplace with prior agreement. 

How will I be assessed for this course?

Assessments are completed to measure your skills and knowledge against the training qualification requirements and those of the industry. 

The assessment process will include written and practical presentations, case studies, workbook activities, observation, project work and classroom participation and will require some time away from the training rooms completing assignments. 

Award

To be eligible for the award of the CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations learners must successfully complete a total of 14 units.
Students who successfully complete this nationally recognised qualification will be awarded a certificate for:

  • CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations

A Statement of Attainment will be issued for any unit of competency deemed competent if the full qualification is not completed. Awards will be generated after successful completion of this course and full payment has been received.​

Recognition of prior learning (RPL)

If recognition applies the students overall duration will alter and a schedule of exemptions will be provided.

Credit transfer

If a certificate or statement of results is produced and verified, a credit transfer process will be initiated by Baker Ebert in relation to the units as per the training plan.
If credits apply the overall duration will alter and a schedule of exemptions will be provided.
