BSB42015 Certificate IV In Leadership and Management


This qualification reflects the role of individuals working as developing and emerging leaders and managers in a range of enterprise and industry contexts.
As well as assuming responsibility for their own performance, individuals at this level provide leadership, guidance and support to others. They also have some responsibility for organising and monitoring the output of their team.
They apply solutions to a defined range of predictable and unpredictable problems, and analyse and evaluate information from a variety of sources.

Course Detail

Total number of units = 12
4 core units plus
8 elective units, of which: 
  • 4 units must be selected from Group A
  • 4 units may be additional units selected from Group A or Group B
  • if not listed below, 1 unit may be from any currently endorsed Training Package or accredited course at Certificate IV level or above.
Elective units must be relevant to the work environment and the qualification, maintain the integrity of the AQF alignment and contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome.

​The course is expected to be completed in a minimum of 6 months and a maximum of 12 months.

If credits apply the students will be exempt from participating in the unit’s which will impact the duration of the course.

Delivery Strategy

  • Face to face (in one of our national training and assessment centres or as part of a customised on-site corporate program)
  • · Recognition of Prior Learning (for experienced leaders and managers who have evidence to support their current competence in the relevant units of competency which comprise the qualification).
  • Blended (using a combination of the modes described).

Entry into this course

There are no formal entry requirements into the Certificate IV in Leadership & Management
Prospective students must be either:

  • Aged 18 years or over
  • Have suitable language, literacy and numeracy skills to read and comprehend learning materials and perform tasks in a business services environment.
  • currently employed or will be employed within the business services industry on the commencement of this course.

Recognition Process

Credit Transfer
If a certificate or statement of results is produced and verified, a credit transfer process will be initiated by Baker Ebert Pty Ltd in relation to the units as per the training plan.
Credit transfer is a process that provides students with agreed and consistent credit outcomes for components of a qualification based on identified equivalence in content and learning outcomes between matched or equivalent units of competency.”  (Source: AQF)

Recognition of Prior Learning:
An assessment process that assesses an individual’s non-formal and informal learning to determine the extent to which that individual has achieved the required learning outcomes, competency outcomes, or standards for entry to, and/or partial or total completion of, a qualification (Source: AQF)
If recognition applies the student’s overall duration will alter and a schedule of exemptions will be provided

Target Group 1
The first target group for this qualification is current practitioners who are seeking to upgrade their skills and knowledge to obtain a formal qualification.
This group of candidates will normally consist of:

 Target Group 2
The second target group for this qualification is people new to the industry. This group of candidates will normally consist of:

  • People looking for a career change;
  • People who need this qualification for employment purposes;
  • People seeking a formal qualification;
  • People with some junior management or team leader experience seeking a formal qualification; and
  • People taking on a junior management or team leader role within their organisation and seeking a formal qualification. 


Baker Ebert Pty Ltd ensures that the training delivered is to the standards of a real workplace environment. To meet this requirement Baker Ebert Pty Ltd has implemented a variety of assessment tools that will be utilised during the course of the qualification. These assessment tools assess various elements of an actual workplace in a simulated training environment.
The assessment tools allow the learner to choose the evidence that they provide to the assessor. Baker Ebert Pty Ltd assessment tools that provide evidence include:

  • Skills assessment/CT
  • RPL Considerations
  • Class based activities
  • Written or Oral questions
  • Assignments and or presentations
  • Supervisor Observations

Baker Ebert Pty Ltd will ensure learners have every reasonable opportunity to complete their training program. The RTO will integrate the activities and units that reflect real industry outcomes and processes. The students are required to submit all written assessments by the prescribed due date.


To be eligible for the award of the BSB42015 Certificate IV in Leadership and Management learners must successfully complete a total of 12 units 4 core units 8 electives.
Students who successfully complete this nationally recognised qualification will be awarded a certificate for:
  • BSB42015 Certificate IV in Leadership and Management
A Statement of Attainment will be issued for any unit of competency deemed competent if the full qualification is not completed. Awards will be generated after successful completion of this course and full payment has been received.
